Made In Ireland

I recently visited Ireland and discovered quality materials and craftmanship at two established businesses, Avoca Weaving Mill and Waterford Crystal.

This amazing mill has stood since 1723! The many colorful scarves made by local weavers were on display for our trip along side a charming cafe and gift shop. Getting to see just what goes into crafting these amazing textiles gave me a new appreciation for the materials I use in designing peoples homes. Quality materials and knowledgeable craftsman deserve to be compensated.

Sixty years after the Avoca weaving mill was founded, Waterford Crystal was established. I was impressed to find out that workers go through many years of training, graduating to higher levels of expertise only after passing specific benchmarks of craftmanship. All pieces are blown, cut and polished by hand. I really gained and appreciation for what goes into unique pieces of work.
