Mid-Century home gets a Furniture Update

On a cold, Spring day, new clients reached out for a furniture makeover. They had remodeled a mid-century modern home into a beautiful, light-airy space and now needed new furniture to finish the theme.

Their existing furniture was high quality and traditional, but a little bit tired feeling.

Our first step was to come up with a floor plan that accommodated the client’s needs. They wanted it to be a comfortable area to watch tv and visit with family and friends. We wanted to maintain the light and airy feel of the space, so kept the finishes light. The home has a beautiful view of a natural area, so keeping the tones natural helped to blend the inside with the outside.

The homeowner’s went with Sarah, owner of Hixon Interiors, to the Denver Design Center to look at sofas and recliners. They were able to sit in several pieces that fit the space and were able to find just the right fit with the Lexington sofa and Hickory Home recliners. Sarah filled in with a locally-made custom cocktail table by Ryan Schlaefer and various end tables and floor lamps.

The homeowner’s were thrilled with the outcome and appreciated that everything was thought out ahead of time so that the fit was perfect and the finishes beautifully coordinated.

The area rug is hand-knotted from Afghanistan and adds a surprisingly modern feel.
